What a nice guy he was. Quiet and unassuming and a real gentleman, not to mention a fabulous engraver.

The first official Hand Engraving Class I took was with Bob Swartley - Colorado State Jr. College, 1987. He was a quiet, well-spoken gentleman - and his work was fabulous. Bob's voice seldom rose above a whisper, and we really had to listen carefully to his instructions. I still have the "Fine Line" gravers we made during the class, and yes, I still use them.
