An unforgettable day, when I had the honor to spend some time with Firmo and Francesca Fracassi in their studio. The meeting was facilitated by the late S.P.Fjestad and accompanied by my friend Scott Pilkington. Firmo will always be remembered for his amazing photo-realistic work with the bulino. In fact, the style of puntini engraving that Firmo popularized came to be known by English speaking engravers and collectors as "bulino" engraving. One of the greatest masters of the gun and knife engraving art is gone but, fortunately, his daughter is still with us to carry on. My sincerest condolences to Francesca and Signora Fracassi along with their family and the Italian engraving community.

In my mind the greatest engraver ever. His book of his and his daughter's engraving is one of my most treasured possessions. Rest in peace. The world has lost one of the greats.
