Announcement: RIP Winston Churchill

I just received word that Winston Churchill passed away. We have lost one of the greatest engravers the world has ever known.

RIP my friend.

I saw and met him at a NRA convention I believe back in 1982 in Philadelphia. He gave a slide presentation of his work. It was he who encouraged me to pursue engraving.

A great treasure to the world of engraving has been lost, though his fabulous works will live on.

Winston and I have enjoyed a loving friendship for so many years. I am extremely saddened, but feel lucky to have so many fine memories of all of the great times we spent together.

I've been engraving over 40 years but I don't do scroll engraving. But I've always marveled at his work and have heard many engravers online talk about his command of engraving. Sad to lose someone who became one of the foundations of the new engravers movement. Rest in Peace
