Just sifting thru iPhoto over the weekend and thought I'd share a few odds & ends from the last year or so. These first few are of a Henningsson & a big gorgeous Genovese with black jade done in an experimental style that's sort of a hybrid between traditional line-shaded leaf scroll and my exclusive 3D "Flying Leaf & Vine" in full bulino. (Please pardon the photography, some were shot kinda quick...)

Thanks for showing Mitch! Wonderful workmanship! Can you tell me about the gold background?

It's just the usual 24k gold inlaid background, but the shadows are dot bulino shaded as the very last operation. Black shadows wouldn't look right on gold- they should be a warm brown, so after everything is done and inked (flat black paint, actually) I go back and add the gold shadows. You may have noticed I also put shadows along the left side & upper edge of the pattern, along with staggering them slightly from the shadows cast by the leaves in the steel, to encourage the illusion of the gold background being slightly inset or relieved, not flush with the other engraving.

If I posted photos of some work from almost 35 years ago that I wouldn't want on my dogs' collars maybe you wouldn't be discouraged.
