I'm just getting into a set of three Custom Shop Colts SSA's - these are 2nd Generation .45's with three different barrel lengths, matching ivories, and consecutive serial numbers. The subject Theme is set by the client following Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and "The Cowboys."
Given the "Hollywood Effect" and and historical mythology, it's a lot of historical territory to cover, even on three guns.
Here are few photos to start. The cylinder is from Doc's 5 3/4" - decorative antique card suits inlaid in sculpted gold. The three back strap shovel heads show, first, a US Marshal's Badge for the 7 1/2" (the type worn by both Wyatt and Virgil) - Doc's Old Overtholt Bottles (his favortite Rye) and his famous collapsing pewter cup - and, the 4 3/4" Cowboy, represented by interlocking gold and silver horse shoes.

quite an undertaking. the movie was great, though who knows how historically correct. looks like you're on a great path to memorialize the theme.

Very clever, Mike! Love those gold inlaid playing card suits. Beautifully executed and designed, and I sincerely hope every engraver takes a long look at your deep, reflective cutting. You're obviously not afraid to get into the steel and the payback is great. Very well done!
