Unusual detail marks

I’m doing some restoration on an old G&H floorplate that has been attributed to Kornbrath (maybe, maybe not, he’s really not my area of expertise). The scroll has tiny, and I mean itty bitty, clusters of dots that I didn’t even notice until it was under a microscope. Anybody ever seen anything like this? I sure haven’t. Roger?

Never have noticed such marks. I am no expert on RJK but have not seen any work of his that looks like that. Hopefully Bleile will chime in.

I'm no expert and cannot give you an answer. However, I like the style of engraving, the way the liner was used to shade background as well as the three dots. I am going to try them on a practice plate and make them large enough to be noticed. The use of three dots was very common in medieval manuscripts.

I don't recalling seeing this, but it's kinda cool. Like Sam, I haven't seen Kornbrath work that looked like this, but I sent a message to Hendrik Freuhauf who is quite knowledgable on old work of Kornbrath, Fugger, etc. Winston might also know if Roger or Hendrik don't recognize it.

Here’s the entire floorplate. Someone had done a poor job of removing the other two initials in the monogram so I cleaned those up. There are also a few dings and scratches to be repaired and disguised.
