OHP Film Overhead Projector Film - 8.5x11" For Laser Jet Printer and Copier Transparency Film 100 Sheets Uinkit
https://smile.amazon.com/OHP-Film-O...ictorico+TPU100+Premium+OHP+Transparency+Film
Does anybody use this brand of transparency?
Does it work well for transfers?

Ive been using the Pictorico TPU100 but it $17.50 + $8.77 shipping for 20 sheets, while this other brand is $17.49 + free shipping for 100 sheets.

Any first hand experience would be helpful before I order 100 sheets that may or may not work.

Thanks in advance.

I suggest you try a Prismacolor blending marker, 40% gray, in place of Tom's White's solution. I don't know if the liquid in the marker is the same stuff as Tom White's but it seems to work exactly in the same way. You can find the markers at most arts and crafts stores.

I use Pictorico OHP Transparency Film. I think I got it on Amazon. I also bought some film from Tom White. They look the same. My printer is an HP envy 5540. Ink is no. 62. Some times I get 3 to 4 transfers from a single printing. It is not a jet black transfer but easy to see and you get detail.

It seems to me that this is a "penny wise, pound foolish" proposition. You can get 20, 2"x2" transfers from a single sheet....more if smaller. That's 400 transfers for a pack of twenty sheets.

How long does it take you to require 400 transfers in your work; or, are you wasting a lot? Do you really think it is worth saving a few pennies by forsaking a known quality product that works for one of unknown characteristics.

Hay Hay.......I just ordered some of Mr. Tom's film so I will be able to say with a certain amount of experience how it differs, if it is better than pictorico, or not and so on. It's on the way as we speak. I have heard from a number a different people that Tom's is better than Pic. I know that is what the Dubber/Showe duo use for their transfers, that should say something right there!!. Rob

Why is it wrong to want to save money? What is wrong with asking if others have tried a product before buying it?

Just because something is a known product doesn't mean that there aren't other things on the market that are it's equal or better.

The point of asking the question was to find out if others had tried the product I linked to before I wasted any money. I though the point of this forum was for people to help each other by sharing their experience.

I am already using the Pictorico product with TW Transfer solution and am getting very good results but if there is a product that is a fraction of the cost and produces the same results why wouldn't I want to buy it and use it...hence the question to see if anyone else had tried it.

It is looking like perhaps no one has tried the specific film I am asking about and if that is the case then I will probably go ahead and order it and try it out for myself. I'll be able to report back and let everyone know if it is a good buy or not usable or something in between. If I do buy some and it doesn't work I can always donate it to the local christian, school they can probably get some good use out of it.

Or should I just keep a review of the product to my self since there is a known quality product on the market like you suggest Dave?

I've used TW film and it works good but I don't know that it is that much better than the Pictorico to justify the extra price. That's just one mans opinion and should be worth exactly what you paid for it. I like his transfer solution and it works good with the Pictorico film. The other film was just a suggested product by Amazon so I thought I would ask if anyone had experience with it before I bought it.

Hey keep us updated on your experiment with the other transfer films. I'm in the same boat as you trying to find what works best and the best value. I've been experimenting with both my HP inkjet and Brother Laser printer. I'll get back to you on the models as I'm not near them and can't remember off the top of my head. What's worked best for me so far and I haven't seen this posted anywhere else on the forum is the Kenco mailing labels on Amazon, $9.99 for 100 sheets and then printed with my Brother laser printer. . I'm pretty sure any mailing labels will do the job because the important part is the paper!.
OK so my method is simplep.
Step 1) Peel off 1 label which is basically half of the sheet.
Step 2) print your image on the shiny side that the label was adhered to. Not the back side, it won't work. At least for me anyways.
Step 3) now this part I'm not sure is really important but it works for me. I had to order dammar varnish yesterday because no one in my town has it! Not even the art store. Only spray varnish. So In the mean time I already had some zinsser bullseye shellac (spray type in a can) so I mist the plate and then quickly rub a q-tip with denatured alcohol and let it flash off and then place your image and burnish well. I've had really good results with this and very detailed with 100% ink transfer. I think with the transfer portion it works just because its a little tacky when I transfer so I bet a lot of things would work. Also I haven't tried this on my hp inkjet. Unfortunately I haven't gotten any transparecy sheets to work for me yet in either printer. But haven't had damar varnish to make my solution. I'll let you know when my dammar arrives friday how that works out. Goodluck all, once I'm thru experimenting and trying all the other methods I'll chime back with what ultimately worked best for me. Ill probably get some Tom Whites solution to try as well. Only heard great things about it. Is the white tinted version the best way to go?

Hay guy's, I have tried just about all kinds of clear film, that is shinny on both sides......ah no go,I think that 26.27 for 20 is considerably more than 48 for 50 Tom's price, includes shipping, on a per sheet basis Pictorico is a tad more per sheet than Tom's, I don't know of any more comparisons there, these two films are in my opinion are the only options for transfers, I personally would not spend 9.95 for 100 sheets of anything, including fancy white paper. Thanks for the information and the method you use.
I use both the clear and the tinted and it just depends on the finish I am applying it to which one I use. I don't engrave just bare metal, sometimes the stuff I engrave has a finish on it already.
I will update when/if I try the cheaper film.

His prices must have come down because the last time I ordered it was more expensive than I paid for the Pictorico.
Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. Just figured I'd share what works for me. Good to compile Info and methods because not all types work for all types of printers and vice versa. For inkjet, Depends on if the ink is

No worries at all, just figured I'd share incase it helped even 1 other person. Not all techniques work for all printers. I've seen a few posts where the pictorico wouldn't work on Brother laser printers for example. Either because of the toner they use or the fuser in those printers. I guess if I end up getting the same quality transfers on the mailing labels and I do with transparency I'll spend the 9.99 any day. I also can reuse the same sheets over and over. So I'd probably pay 9.99 for 1 sheet at this point as it's the only thing that's worked for me. Good luck all! Have a good one.

I have been getting a good transfer from Fixxon waterproof transparency film. $30/100 sheets.

Interesting Gary thanks for sharing! I read another post where a guy was having trouble getting the transfer off transparency sheets in his laser printer so he sprayed a little silicone on the transparency and then wiped it all off but it left just enough of a thin layer that it worked beautifully for him. The detail in the pics were impressive actually. If I don't have luck I'll try that too.
