I am engraving on a new Golden Boy. Does anyone know what the clear coat is on the brass receiver?

Mudhen, What caliber is the Golden Boy? if it's a 22 caliber the gun is plated and not solid brass the 22's are not good for engraving. J.J.

I remember doing one in .22 back in the seventies. The receiver was solid brass and cut quite nicely.

I really cannot remember.

I believe you should test the medal on every gun before engraving. J.J.

Yes it is a .22 cal. Thank you so much for your input.
I find a clear coating on the receiver. From what I've been able to research, it is Cericoat.
