if it's the one that comes to mind, it kinda engraves like concrete.

Mudhen, What caliber is the Golden Boy? if it's a 22 caliber the gun is plated and not solid brass the 22's are not good for engraving. J.J.

I remember doing one in .22 back in the seventies. The receiver was solid brass and cut quite nicely.

Peter, All the advertisement I've read of the Henry rifle's the 22's were plated are we talking about the company? J.J.

Yes it is a .22 cal. Thank you so much for your input.
I find a clear coating on the receiver. From what I've been able to research, it is Cericoat.
