A tip i learned from a video done by layne zeulke. When doing cross hatching on shading lines they should be done with intent, spaced tighter together in areas you want to be darker to farther apart on lighter areas.
Im by no means a great artist, and still have a lot to learn about drawing...
I would second to stay away from amscope. While i had it the scope worked and seemed nice but i would get headaches not knowing why. After upgrading to a zeiss opmi 1 i knew why! the low quality optics were the reason on the amscope. I recently just got a leica a60 and while it is very nice, the...
What a shame, im sure karma will get him if it hasn't already.
Where did you get that small container which holds the stainless piston? Perfect little storage solution.
To my knowledge they are designed to fit with any system. Steve specifies this on his website that its designed to fit any system which can hold a standard 3/32 graver.
I use renaissance wax to seal my pieces. Its a fancy wax paste that is used to preserve all sorts of things in museums and long term storage. I have pieces that are 8 years old coated with it and not a spec of rust. Goes on super easy and doesn't affect surface finish. Just rub on with your...
I agree her beading tools are fantastic, ill check that kit out as well. Acetone transfers are nice but having clear sheets make life a lot easier when it has to be in the right spot.
I ordered the TW designs transfer kit with samples of the white and clear bottles.
What im wondering is how clear the transfers should be?
Also i cant seem to get a transfer using the white without it peeling some of the white off.
These 2 designs were included in the kit so i imagine the...
Steve lindsay sells what he calls the angled graver. It allows you to engraver something deep say the curve or a spoon. there are a few options, hand push models, collet systems specific to the lindsay hand piece and more universal collets. I have no personal experience with them but everything...
The lindsay system takes any graver blank up to .135 inch i use 1/8 round carbide blanks about 90% of the time. steve charges 25$ to adapt a fixture to 1/8 round from 3/32 square.
I dont have personal experience with stone setting but as for engraving and doing things like raised dot inlays etc...
Thanks for the tip! i started with the border then went onto the nose, mouth, then eye on this project. Lost it with the hairs. Good tip with the eyebrow.
This photo was right before i way overdid the ears, even at this point the lines for the hair are too bold i think. Just have to go thinner...
Thank you, it was going well till i went way to heavy on the ear, then trying to balance everything out it started to go a bit down hill, i tried bigger darker cuts to compensate but i should have done smaller and more cuts instead.
I will be trying this same design again from scratch this...
Thanks for the reply, what degree of a graver might you use in a situation like this? I have the lindsay bulino template kit coming. 70, 80, 90, 100, 105 etc. How does one decide when to use each? Or does it not matter, only the end result to the eye?
