Archie, binding wire comes in both carbon and stainless steel.
Much of it now is made in stainless steel to resist soldering.
Make sure to test it with a little cold blue before using.
Your grip cap is amazing!
In another post you ask about power tools for removing background.
The background in your grip cap is superb and I would urge you to keep on using the same method in the future. Your background is like black velvet.
Csontmetszo, the air turbines are very fast but have almost no torque.
The electrics have much more torque at a slower RPM speed.
All rotary tools need a lot of PRACTICE AND CAREFUL use for background removal.
I find the electric best and use a 1/16 inch micro grind carbide bit shaped to nearly...
Csontmetszo,
Both the flex shaft and the micro motor have their place and different uses.
Some jobs are better for one than for the other.
What part of gun engraving do you plan to use it for?
Background removal or sculpturing or what?
Hi Dave, that info should be available on the FEGA forum under the show heading.
If not contact Betty Strosin, admin assistant or Rex Pedersen.
Look forward to seeing you there and Merry Christmas my friend.
I agree. I have same thing but I got it from Gesswein. Sold as their ECO-Torque 280.

One to start........If you are going for removed or crosshatch background like you did, close the design elements to contain and enclose the background.
Sam, I agree with your post above. The 1911 grabbed your attention and would do the same for many people seeking an engraved/ decorated firearm.
I think in the future someone will come up with a CNC driven pantograph with a rotary V-point tool and that can vary the depth/width of cut and also be...

I think you will find several articles on French Gray in the archive tips including two of mine.
However I don't know if they include info on graying aluminium, I know mine don't.
Best of luck with your project and lets see some photos when you're done.
We don't see many engraved...
To be honest I think that is very tough competition for 20K. Not every ones cup of tea but.......
A high quality plain shotgun with a stock of this caliber will cost a very big slice of twenty grand.
Look at the prices of the fine, plain shotguns made by Connecticut Firearms or some of the...
