Here is my latest attempt at engraving including my first try at gold inlay. Feel free to tell me what I should work on to make it better.
Thanks,Leland
Scott, I have watched your videos when ever I have time, the ergonomics of what I want to build will be important. I am not trying to replace my shop bench i like my classic and microscope. At the rendezvous I can't even use my optivisor I bought the strongest reading glasses you can buy and use...
I do primitive rendezvous and want to build a portable bench that has a kick wheel to turn my vice. I am thinking something like a shaving horse setup. I searched here and found nothing, just wondering if any of you have setup like that you would share photos of.
Thanks,Leland
Thanks Dave, no gold on this one sounds like I should happy about that. I had done a pair of stainless Ruger vaquero this spring and found them to be very inconsistent hard and soft spots the hard spots were very hard but manageable. The Springfield I thought cut consistent and not that hard...
Thanks, for the comments, I am going to put a running leaf in the border just have not had time to get back to it. I spent my time trying to make rounder scrolls and the border just didn't get thought out good enough, the running leaf will help.
Thanks again,Leland
I asked awhile back about cutting a stainless Springfield 1911 and was told they were hard but engravable so I took it on here is the right side. The stainless cut nice it was consistent all the way thru. Let me know what I did wrong.
Thanks,Leland
Lee, the birds are amazing it looks like they are fully sculpted. I am in awe.
The poor parts fit on the bottom really detracts from your work but it still is nice.

rrupp, Jeff Walmsley in Kearney Ne. is a very good at checkering.I have used him for years awesome job at a reasonable price. His finishes are second to none.

Brian, J J is right you have a lot polishing before you even think of engraving. The Schippers book is a good one to show you how to cut borders.
good luck,Leland
