    Critique Request Design critique please!

Good evening Mike, Like your design very much. Only suggestion maybe fold or add something to break up the long stretch of the outer most last leaf. The one with the hole in it on your practice piece. ”grain of salt” Have a great night

How do I find an expert to study under?

Good evening Frank, If you’re looking for and organization “in charge” of awarding titles for engraving then your journey into this art may be fraught with disappointment for patience is not easily judged by others. Now if you unequivocally need to sign up for a class in engraving go to GRS.com...

How do I find an expert to study under?

Elemental breakdown, Welcome to a wonderful adventure. Advice from a “first grader” similarly to yourself learning comes more naturally shown instead of explained, that being said Sam Alfano has made some wonderful instructional DVDs. When I speak to friends and colleagues about this art I refer...

    Critique Request First real drawing

Hello Mike, well as someone who always wanted to draw but never quite had a aptitude for it the blank page is a huge road block. Stick men “and bad ones at that” have been the extent of what comes out any pencil I’v wielded. So with procreate and all the cool things it can do, layers, opacity...

    Critique Request First real drawing

Allen, First and foremost a very formal bow to Monk, for whom I have mentioned to very many people over the past few weeks during this sketch and reading those words too every newcomer since I joined the community. I appreciate the advice and reference for Ken Hunt‘s work. Chaotic and a...

    Critique Request First real drawing

John B, ahh I see where several backbones stacked and branched in a short area, then erased and shifted into a straight line. More caution will be taken during the backbone phase moving forward, this would also have prevented that larger scroll at the bottom. Much appreciated kind sir.

    Critique Request First real drawing

Good Evening to all, First of all a cautionary tale for beginners, I wasted over a year trying to doodle on a danged old IPad and the program Procreate. It would be perfectly suitable for some, but if your just trying to figure things out and have zero artistic talent “myself” then a pencil...

    Microscope

Good evening, I can’t recall the source of this method but Ockham’s razor for sure. If your have a practice plate in your vise draw a dot in the center of your current view, turn the vise 180 degrees around and draw a second dot. Draw a line in between the two dots and the center of that line is...

Good evening Gunsmith, I still don’t know nothin about nothin but Sam‘s shading video gives one a very comprehensive view on what lines go where and why. I’m a poor study but after following along step by step on the same design provided, things really started making sense. No doubt even with...

    A trial and error process

Good Evening too all, I started this particular project and had one day hoped to capture and share this process start to finish if only to be able to look back one day at the current state of progress. As such theses additional videos probably wouldn’t be of interest to most but I did...
