Good evening Gtsport, Wow That’s super cool one heck of a rig you must have to exert that much force. Long ago I saw a proper anvil for sale and it did cross my mind, but the progress wasn’t far enough along to justify as the first year was pretty rough haha. Very much appreciate the advice...
Gtsport, In the beginning the goal was…. got me there haha.
Well always had an affinity for a found on the ground lucky penny. Then I recon started fooling around with the concept of making a unique trail marker, little something to leave at the end of a long and arduous hike into the woods...
Good evening to all,
This is one step removed from engraving but I thought maybe some may find it intriguing. Four years ago beginning an endeavor to create something particularly unique proved to be most challenging. Although balancing expectations whilst attempting fulfillment of a...
Welcome Novicane, personally I’ve always had a bit of trouble book learnin :) Sam’s beginner’s course DVD does a great job, giving one the perspective of what I’m sure 30 years ago would only be seen by an apprentice cautiously observing over the shoulder of a master. Hope you enjoy your...
Evening Kevin, Thanks for the info. Even though I expect it will be some time before I start taking on firearms Im glad that everyone has shared their knowledge of properly undertaking such jobs. Surly Im not the first to be a bit caught off guard by the extra steps that must be taken and...
Welcome Bud, You will find the answers and advise to most beginning struggles along this journey here in this wonderful community of very knowledgeable fellows.
I’m certain others have pondered and engineered a solution to this conundrum. I‘ll admit to pondering it, but you may find the...
JJ, I’m just going to have to admit the answer to that is going to be a bit of ignorance on my behalf. I have read here more than a few times here people referencing bluing after engraving and assumed they where just doing a more advanced work and finishing than I’d be undertaking for several...
Leland, Much appreciated for the info. One of those things one would never think of doing when getting what should be a definitive answer from an official is to get him to write it down for the next guy who tells you something different. I’m sure more than a few people besides myself will...
Kevin, Thanks very much for information and added personal experience as in some of the seemingly cut and dry forms and fees somehow spiral into a proverbial can of worms. BB
Thanks you gentlemen, I did a bit of lookin and though I’m not quite ready to be taking on guns as projects for lack of design capability and technical experience on uneven / irregular surfaces.
I have inadvertently met 80% of the requirements to acquire an FFL.
It appears that most of the...
Good evening Archie, much appreciated sir. I will look into what is needed or required to comply. I’d imagine possession or ownership may be a saving grace if I’v unknowingly done wrong. Thank you sir.
Good New Year to All,
Well I did a bit more rework on the backbones and spacing between the logo and edge to be fairly even. Figured I just stop staring over the edge of the cliff and just jump :)
Once under the scope it surprised me to see how porous the metal was, though this didn’t...
Good evening Nalimugmug, If you have a taste for it might I suggest Doing some hand pushing on copper practice piece. Extremely satisfying once you start getting a few clean lines. Not a huge investment to get a fire started that may last a very long while. Have a wonderful day. BB
It’s been slow going this week but think I finally got most of the wrinkles out of this one. The third split has a bit of a flat spot but seems the more I fiddle with it the odder it becomes so I’m hoping filling it in with some leaves will distract away from this.
Please feel free to suggest...
Good evening to all,
Well first things first Iv been very reluctant to try a firearm and probably wouldn’t be attempting it was it not a request from my mother for her Christmas present…”I let her know it wouldn’t be on time haha”. So as a rookie and from so many previous critique request...
Evening ghpayton,
Recently I ran into an issue with a design that was discovered way too late to save the project. I only mention this because a few of your outer leaves seem reminiscent, first and second scroll leaf just before the split. Give shading them a go and maybe just the whole...
Good evening Mike,
Both are appealing in separate ways. In your close up “taken with a grain of salt from a beginner“ the center of the scroll seems rather dense then switches gears to a lonely long leaf. Maybe the time constraints imposed on the details, maybe add a little something before...
