If you buy cheap you’ll buy twice. If you’re already ordering templates then just grab the kit that has the stones. Save yourself some headache. I built a power hone for rough shaping. Then use the 600,1200,2000 Lindsay stones.

This should do the trick for you buddy.
I use an hp laser jet m15w. It’s a monochrome laser printer. Works perfect on parchment paper and for $100 absolutely worth it. They also make a wired one thats around 60-70. Best of luck and happy new year!
Just wanted to update this and say it officially has lasted 2 months! I have been letting it hang freely just in case I can have excuse to buy new scope. ;). But all is going well!
This stand fortunately did not require any screws into it. The vesa plate adaptor on the stand is what I'll call a 'clip in'. It took me a few hours to find one like this but the pla fixture was shaped to slide in and lock. When I'm away I swing it over the desk with it resting maybe an inch...
I grabbed an old drill press for a stand so that really helps with my distance to the work. As far as the arm it's great, has a tensioner spot right in the crook of the arm so just tight enough to not drop but loose enough for full range motion.
Latest build. Used a computer monitor stand and 3d printed a part to connect it all. Works great! pla print is holding up great as well. All about $60 invested for a great working articulating stand!
Decided to scratch a skull in the zippo. Still learning how to do scrolls so none have been added yet. But any tips on the overall piece would be helpful!
This is my latest skull engraving. I'm starting to feel like I'm really getting the hang of it. Please let me know if you guys think anything needs more work or practice.
I've got microscope in a comfy position. Going to build a adjustable vise stand and see if that makes it better with my current bench. Thanks everyone for your help.
