So I just ordered Steve Lindsay's Bench Jewel graver.

Being a hobby engraver and retired at that I just can't see the expense of his palm engraver setup. I guess when it arrives I'll give it a road test. In the mean time has anyone else used one of these gravers?

    Question: Practice plates

I have to agree with Andrew, sanding your plates give you experience with finishing surfaces. Crocus cloth will make a polished look to a practice plate.

    Kinda New Here

Some good workmanship from what I can see. Did you start with a hammer chisel or power assisted graver? Autistic Spectrum kids live in my area and they can be quite accomplished. One in particular is really into basket ball and has a fetish for basket ball shoes. His is also quite musical.

    So brass, copper or steel.

Most of my plates are steel, I have done some in brass and one in copper. Man, I really dont like copper. What do some of you more experienced engravers think?
