first let me say my brother and i never disagree on anything ( right brother ) so if i do it's by accident.
Some 35 years or so ago i was working with Lynton McKenzie and Raulf Alpin and from what i understood
from their words and actions don't worry where your point is after a while you will just know.
Later i figured it out it's like airbrushing , tattooing or other arts where your hands and mind get together and you will feel where the stopping and starting places are when it's not possable to see the tip of the tool.
the way i grind my tools i rarely if ever see the point. i not sure if this is good but it's the way i taught myself
one last thing when i first started i copied the masters like L.D.N. with h&c and found the work to be more tactile, with more feel for tapers and contour. i still use h&c ( tool left hand ) mostly when doing high sculpted relief.
P.S. Roger is going to give me hell for the way i wrote this.
