Hand sharpening gravers

I am just new to engraving, having been a knife maker for a number of years. I have made a 120 degree template so far and use it with a 6 inch set of diamond discs driven by my milling machine. A pedestal drill will do the job.I have made all my own equipment based on a 12 volt compressor with variable voltage control and a hand made air graver.
My graver material thus far is 3/16 round carbide. I find I get reasonable results on brass, but not always on stainless steel, however I will keep trying. I find the face angle is critical, less than 35 is difficult for me to see and greater angles on stainless steel tend to cut too deep.

there's nothing inherently wrong about the crocker. you're better to have one, than not. if you become freaky about exact angles. you'll soon find the crocker aint going to cooperate much. even tho it has graduated scales, it's really hit and miss with the crocker. the grs is really far more useful.
