    Jewelry box

This was another Christmas gift for my mom, she likes them ( or at least she says so? ) it is pewter. I was a bit rushed (waited almost too long to get it done in time) , so I turned to Sam’s book for ideas and borrowed some designs modified a little… but all in all turned out okay.

    English fine scroll instructional set

You’ll not find a better instructional DVD/ book on English Scroll, Marcus did a phenomenal job from beginning to end explaining and showing how to properly draw and cut English Scroll.

    The Buffalo Bill Colt

Your lettering and plates are always so well done. I’m sure it’s a learned skill from many years of doing… vintage lettering is an art in itself.

61 Winchester with raised gold inlay.

Same here, it’s not too difficult though to move the firing pin but not a project I want to do at this point.

61 Winchester with raised gold inlay.

Thank you… it’s a Rem .32 rimfire long/short, unless it’s converted I doubt it will get too much shoulder time but yes not a typical place for raised inlay.

61 Winchester with raised gold inlay.

I like it, the rabbits fur almost looks like it’s raised or rather textured with a punch,,,, I’m doing a rabbit in Silver (my first) and I too am struggling to get it to look right. It looks different now than in picture, still working on it… because of the difficulty I procrastinated to do...

Advanced drawing of scrolls by Ron Smith

Maybe try this link, it's in the UK... looks like a possibilty? Asking 75.60 pounds plus tax and shipping (ship dates 7/23 - 7/31/23), I just didn't want to accept the cookies to go any further to investigate.

    Some things never change…

Agree… always someone looking for value at someone else’s expense. A cheap zoo lost its gorilla and instead of paying for one they hired a guy in a gorilla costume to act like a gorilla. When the people came to see him he pounded his chest and moved like a gorilla. Right under him was a lions...

    Some things never change…

Either engraving was a service that was able to command a respectable fee 90 years ago or people were cheap.... even in crime novels.

My first attempt at modern scroll

Your close to Birmingham, I used to go every now and then for work… if I remember right I have heard of putting parts in the oven ( degree?) then letting them cool down to somewhat soften the part, not actual annealing but softens it enough to be able to cut. I’ve never been brave enough to try...

Hi Jim, I like it a lot…. It looks really good on the rifle, what kind is it? Also what part of Alabama are you from? I’m in New Market near Huntsville.

Example of how not to do it.

Wow… the “ BEAUTIFUL Hand Engraved Beretta model 87 Target 22” actually sold??? Question: I know nothing of laser engraving but If the guy had the skill?/ ability to laser engrave the gun why could he not have programmed in a better design? assuming you import the design into the system. At the...

    Firearm finishing

Thanks for the Amazon tip, I’ve looked before but didn’t catch the reprints. I ended up getting a digital copy from B&N for about $17 but you have to use their Nook app, I much more prefer a hard copy.
