Thanks J.J., yes… do you know if theses are plated or case hardened? I’ve done a bit of filing and sanding to clean it up but it has a hard surface, once you get past that it’s like butter. I have tried to research but not a lot of information.

Thank you for the information Mike. I just acquired a new Python (stainless) which I was going to engrave. It’s a disappointment that the barrel can not be removed, it sure changes the design thoughts. Maybe a jig can be made to hold and help rotate?… sure adds a lot extra work and gymnastics.

Same as Monk, I also use etching ink (Gamblin I think)… use paper, news paper or business cards are good to wipe off the excess. It leaves the ink in the relieved areas instead of wiping it away like a cloth would.
