    Dividers and Calipers

You want the dividers.. just need some that are more robust. Shorter legs can help.. the ones that have the bar run right through its legs are often better quality.. there is a set that is expensive, but looks outstanding with carbide inserts at Otto Frei right now. Side tips.. if the...

    Optivisor Troubles

A five will get you where you need to be. I want to try that trick of pushing the lens out.. do you get glare? Or does the image effectively shrink as you get further back from it?

Getting started drawing on procreate in 2021?

The folk in this forum are extremely generous , and the videos are cheap for the value they bring. You aren’t owed anything here. You’ve had a bad year? Look around. It’s been a bad year.

    Shortening gravers

Looks like you could almost break that into three. Ther areafew u can chop it up.. the best practice is to take a diamond,or other separating disc (as has been suggested) and you score the metal where you want to divide it. Then put it in a vise with the score right at/barely above the jaws...

Carving grapevine on a limestone cross

I see the vines approach symmetrically laterally but are kitty corner vertically. This will add an interesting tension to your final composition.. and avoids the easy solution

    Which should i choose?

I use an American optical scope, which is fine, i also use a Leica mz6, and a Leica m3z. Both are Anaupgrade from the AO, but mostly because of the add ones.. there is a bit more distortion with the AO, but it does not impede the work.

    Drawing on the work

For wax I use fine point felt tipped drawing markers. I think the brand I use is micron, or something like that.. there is also one I’ve used that has a grey casing.. one works as well as the other, i use a 005.. even that is a bit big sometimes. I adjust on the fly, if I can’t make my...

New member seeking critiquing or advise.

I like the set.. giving me medieval illuminated illustration vibes.. or Russian folk art... one of my favourite artists works in this style.. but i forget his name at the moment. Don’t judge me.

    Cigar Tube

I’d fill the hole with shellac. Or something that will be sure to find the voids... as long as it doesn’\t have any paint or anything on it you want to preserve.. you’ll have to heat it, and soak it in alcohol or something to clean it up... could also just use plastercine.. but it will get...

Help needed, any advice and suggestions, please help.

I would suggest hammer and chisel.. i tried it a few years back when my hand was injured and was amazed at how easy it was.. not to give false expectations, i had already been push graving and doing reppouse for years, so my perspective on easy is worth questioning.. but in other words, it...

Question: Low profile vise vs Goliath vise

Looks like you have the cam lock on it, which i assume somewhat undermines the low profile?

Question: Low profile vise vs Goliath vise

Sam. Does the gas low profile have the top of the jaws at or below the centre of rotation? So that the work area does not shift as you tilt the vise?

Could be lack of potassium, salt also works for immediate cramp relief.. could be the dupetrons, in that case bannanas won’t help. Or salt
