I had purchased this small custom knife. The bolsters needed something and here is the result. Looks best at arms length. Mis-punched two back ground hits grr
Thank you sir appreciate the kind words of my engraving. The pins were the best solution for what I was trying to do. Did require repositioning and tightening fairly frequently but got the job done. Necessity is a mother. lol
Finally decided to try engraving my old Stevens .22. The other side yet to go. Poor when I see the work JJ Roberts and others have shown but it will make the old rifle unique. Hammer and chisel for the boarder and background, old hand gravers for the rest.
Most recent projects. Buck 112 knives. Simple scrolls and backgrounded with hammer and punch. Had engraved the now elk handled knife then decided handle it in elk antler. Would have been easier to re-handle then engraved the knife. Not real bright but it’s done. Later removed the 1996 blade etch...
In the past used paint remover. That was kinda messy. Now just hitting em with propane torch and rubbing with steel wool. Seems to work pretty well. Here are some more.
no problem. I had ran across the small tins by chance otherwise would not have known either. Early large tins did not have Altoids name embossed in the metal. Mom would be so proud to know her son has become the world’s most foremost expert on Altoids tins. See that college education has not...
The little boxes are inexpensive and even though practice pieces kinda nifty and can be given away and used by the recipient. Never found much use for flat practice plates.
Not sure if my work has improved since my last post. Brass capper used by muzzle loader shooters to dispense percussion caps. Push engraved by hand, no power involved. Lots of mistakes.
