    If you decide to go with a GRS pneumatic system, I would highly recommend their sharpening system as well, because the two are made for each other. Pneumatic makes everything faster and easier and with more control.

    Critique Request Gift for my wife

    Personally, I think it's overly complicated. I would simplify the design. I would also encourage you not to copy/paste elements and draw each one individually. You'll get better results that way.

    Are my expectations unrealistic?

    Watch case and bracelet material are normally 316L, or in the case of Rolex, 904L. Both are very hard and very difficult to engrave, and nothing a beginner should be attempting. Learn on mild steel first and move to harder materials when you gain more experience.

    does anybody know

    I have made these by sharpening a normal 120 from carbide or HSS and then use a blue or grey wheel to grind away the underside. Alexandre and Johnny Oro both sharpen by hand with a micromotor. My way works fine but maybe theirs is better. Here's a pic of a cobra graver that Alexandre sent to me.

    You can try to troubleshoot via GRS documents for their machines, but unfortunately you have a Chinese knockoff which is notoriously bad. You might contact the seller, but most are just selling junk products and are unable to provide support.

    I don't recalling seeing this, but it's kinda cool. Like Sam, I haven't seen Kornbrath work that looked like this, but I sent a message to Hendrik Freuhauf who is quite knowledgable on old work of Kornbrath, Fugger, etc. Winston might also know if Roger or Hendrik don't recognize it.
