Not a double. The P&V Eagle is a single shot break open. I added hardware to the barrel to allow me to create a forearm design similar to the Merkel stutzen. This rifle is chambered in 7x65 R which is the reason for the leopard motif.
Thanks Monk, bought that stock blank in the early 2000’s...
Hi Mitch. Lots of clean up required but here are a couple of iterations. Your thoughts? The left is the original and I turned off the shading and background layers in hopes of a more clear picture.
Thanks Sam. It has been 3 years since I have cut a scroll. But i’m still young(ish), so maybe.
Good suggestion Mitch. I will work on some changes.
Hi Roger, yes I have a barreled action (P&V) in the white. I stocked it a few years ago. And yes they were quite concerned when I asked them...
Hi Pap. Correct, I made no attempt to change your design. Just wanted illustrate what it could look like with improved symmetry, proportions, and placement.
Dan
I agree your design is much improved, good progress. To illustrate how your own design could look with a couple of small changes I copied your backbone scroll and then pasted it proportionately near where your leaves already were. You are on the right track.

Personally I think the design is pleasing but the ‘cuts’ are flat and two dimensional. I agree with John and Mike, until a laser or CNC can mimic a shade cut that starts whisper thin and finishes deep and bold or cut a leaf edge that rolls inward then it will never replace the work accomplished...
I’m envious. I had the good fortune to meet and speak very briefly with Mr. Smith on one occasion. Funny how some people can make a life long impression in just one minute. I wish him many more years of health and happiness.
